Instructors or moderators can upload files to their Kaltura Virtual Classroom and share them with their students or participants.

### Supported files

The list of supported files that can both be uploaded and shared in your online sessions for synchronous viewing are:

- Presentations - PPT, PPTX
- Video - MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV
- Image - PDF, PNG, JPG
- Document - DOC, DOCX
- Spreadsheet - XLS, XLSX
- Audio - MP3

> ℹ️ The upload size for a single file is limited to **1GB**.

### Add a file

To add a file to your Kaltura Virtual Classroom:

1. Click **Files **on the top bar.
2. Click the **Add File** button to launch your local file browser.
3. Select the file/s you want to upload.
4. Click the confirmation button (**Ok**/**Open**/etc.).


The files are uploaded directly to the current folder you are in.

💡 Use *shift+click* or *command+click* to select multiple files to upload at one time.

Alternatively, you can also drag-and-drop files directly from your desktop to upload files.

1. Click and drag file from your desktop.
2. Drop the file in the dashed line box to upload it to the current folder.

> ℹ️ To upload a file to a specific folder, drag the file to the folder. When the folder is highlighted in blue, drop the file. You are redirected to the folder and the file is uploaded there.

Once files are uploaded, you can share the file with your students or participants by either playing the files from the Files area or the Playlist area.

To play a file from the Files area:

1. Click **Files **on the top bar.
2. Navigate to the file you wish to share and select it.
3. Click **Play**.

By default, all microphones are disabled while a video is being played in the room. This is to prevent echoes caused by participants’ speakers being streamed back into the room. Microphones are re-enabled automatically when the video is paused or stopped.

You can save time finding files during your session by using the playlist to organize your files ahead of time. The playlist can hold up to 50 items at a time. 


To add previously uploaded files to your playlist:

1. Click **Files** on the top bar.
2. Click the **Add File** button and/or select the file(s) you want to share in the live session.
3. Click the **Add to playlist** button.

> ℹ️ *Use control+click, command+click, or shift+click to select multiple files at one time.*


To add YouTube videos to your playlist:

1. Click **Tools** on the top bar.
2. Select **YouTube**.
3. Search for and select the YouTube videos you want to share.
4. Click the **Add to playlist** button.

To add Kaltura videos to your playlist:

1. Click **Tools **on the top bar.
2. Select **Video Library**.
3. Search for and select the videos you want to share in **Gallery** or **My Media**.
4. Click the **Add to playlist** button.

<span style="color: #34495e">The playlist is only visible to instructors and moderators. If the </span><span style="color: #34495e">*Playlist*</span><span style="color: #34495e"> is hidden, then click the </span><span style="color: #34495e">**Playlist**</span><span style="color: #34495e"> button on the top bar to display it. If the </span><span style="color: #34495e">*Playlist*</span><span style="color: #34495e"> is displayed, then click the </span><span style="color: #34495e">**Playlist**</span><span style="color: #34495e"> button to hide it.</span>

### Reorder files

<span style="color: #34495e">You can reorder items in your playlist by dragging and dropping items within the playlist.</span>

1. <span style="color: #34495e">Select the item you want to reorder.</span>
2. <span style="color: #34495e">Click and drag to the position you want the item to be in.</span>
3. <span style="color: #34495e">Release the item.</span>

<span style="color: #34495e">To display/play an item in the playlist, click it. Playing items are highlighted in green.</span>

### Remove files

To remove items from a playlist:

1. <span style="color: #34495e">Hover your cursor over the item you want to remove.</span>
2. <span style="color: #34495e">Click the x.</span>

💡 <span style="color: #4c4b4b">Removing a file from the playlist does not delete it. You can still access the file in your Files window. However, YouTube videos are not saved. If you remove a YouTube video from the playlist, you will have to add the video again.</span>
