### Session stats explained

Instructors, moderators, and application administrators can access Kaltura Virtual Classroom Session Stats, which provide statistical information on the virtual classes offered within MacEwan. Instructors and moderators can view data on the classes they have taught or moderated, while application administrators can access information on all classes offered across MacEwan. This allows for easy monitoring of attendance, participation, and other key metrics to help optimize the virtual learning experience.

The data points available are: 

- **Session overview** - The list view displays live sessions that occurred during the specified date range, including information such as the instructor(s), number of students, duration, start and end times, and whether or not a recording was made.
- **Recordings** - Preview recordings.
- **Attendance list** - View a comprehensive list of students/participants including their name, role, email, as well as the time they joined and left the class. The duration of attendance for each participant is also available to track their level of engagement throughout the session.

- **Attention** - View the focus or attention reports for each class, which provide information on the level of engagement of students/participants. The report indicates the overall percentage of time each participant was focused on the virtual class’ stage while they were joined.
- **Chat history** - View a record of the chat history that was entered throughout the class.

- **Quick Polls** - View poll results and statistics for each poll taken during a class.

**Access Session Stats**

To access Session Stats, you need to have already connected to your virtual classroom for the first time. After that, follow these steps:

1. In a browser window, navigate to [https://smart.newrow.com](https://smart.newrow.com); you will be automatically logged in.
2. On the top row, click on **Session Stats**.

### Filter stats by session

If you want to view data for specific classes, you can use the course (session) filter. To do so, click on the drop-down menu that displays "All Courses" by default. Then select the course or courses you want to view data for.

If you want to remove the filter and view data for all courses again, simply deselect any selections you made previously.

### Change the date range

Session Stats provides you with data on your sessions from the past seven days, but you can also customize the date range to fit your needs. Simply click on either the start or end date field to display the calendar menu. You can navigate to previous months by clicking on the left navigation arrow. First, select the start date and then choose the end date if you wish to modify it.

The data in the table will automatically update based on your selected date range. Simply scroll through the table to find the session stats that you are interested in. Keep in mind that you can always reset the date range by selecting the default option or modifying the dates again.

### See who joined your classes

To access the session statistics of a specific session, follow these steps:

1. Click on Session Stats.
2. Select the name of the session you want to view information on.
3. Scroll down to the **Participants** section.

Here, you will be able to see data on the number of participants, their names, roles, email addresses, as well as the time they entered and exited the session.

### Review chat history from a class

To view the chat history of a specific live session, follow these steps:

1. Click on **Session Stats**.
2. Select the name of the class that you want to view the chat history for.
3. Click on **Chat History**.

This will display the chat messages that were entered during the selected session.

### See Quick Polls results 

To access information about the Quick Polls for a specific course, follow these steps:

1. Click on the **Courses** tab.
2. Choose the course you want to view.
3. Click on the **Quick Polls** tab.
