Students have a different view of the course than the faculty. This document will demonstrate how to create a **Test Student** account and use the process that students are asked to complete (e.g., submitting an assignment or writing a quiz). Creating a test student account shows you an accurate view of what the student sees in the course.

Logging in with the **Test Student** account shows the full list of courses, which will be included in all activities and calculations. PeopleSoft will not be affected.

## Setup

Turn **Edit mode** on in the top-right corner of the main course page.

The MacEwan **Test Student** block will now appear in the Block drawer (as pictured below).

## Open a new browser or incognito window

You should open a new browser window to make it easier to switch between the student and faculty view in your course. For example, you can log in with your faculty account in a **CHROME** browser and login with the **Test Student** account in a **FIREFOX** or other browser.

The dashboard contents will be blank because this new Test Student account has not been enrolled into any courses. Enrolling the test student account into courses is explained in the following section.

# Enrolling The Test Student Account Into a Course

To enrol your **Test Student** account to a particular course, return to the instructor role and open the course page for that course and click on **Participants** on the top menu.

# Using the Test Student Account

Now the test student account is added to the course, and can switch back and forth between the two browsers or windows to see the course from the instructor's or student's point of view.

## Future use of the test student account

Only create the test student account *once*, and the test student account must be enrolled separately into each course.

Once you have enrolled the *Test Student* account into a course, you can login using the regular MacEwan login credentials. Open a separate browser tab or window and login to the *Test Student* account. Remember, these separate browsers or windows are necessary to keep the two logins (one with an instructor role and one with a student role) distinct from each other. This is necessary to use both logins at the same time.
