## Kaltura Video Quiz Overview

The Kaltura Video Quiz activity allows you to add a variety of questions to any media you have uploaded to Kaltura. The instructions on how to add three of the four options to add media to your Kaltura gallery- Media Upload, YouTube, and Kaltura Capture are explained in the *Kaltura Media Assignment *tutorial. This tutorial will explain how to create the quiz once you have successfully uploaded the media to your Kaltura Media gallery.

## Adding a Kaltura Video Quiz to your course

With editing turned on, navigate to the section of your course where you would like to add the activity and select **Add activity or resource**.

On the pop-up list that appears, select **Kaltura Video Quiz**.

In the box adjacent to **Activity Name,** give your quiz a name, and click **SAVE AND DISPLAY**.

Click **Add New **to choose the media you want to use as the basis for your quiz and select **Video Quiz**.

Choose the media by clicking **Select**. The next section will discuss the Kaltura Quiz building application and question types.

## Question types

This section explores the Kaltura Quiz building application and the question types that can be used.

In the Kaltura Video Quiz, you have four question types that you can choose from: Multiple Choice, True/False, Reflection Point, and Open-Ended Question.

**Note**: To use the Open-Ended Question feature, you must create your video quiz within Kaltura itself; if you create via mêskanâs, it is disabled. This section will provide instructions on how to add one of each type of question to your video quiz.

## Add a Multiple Choice question to Kaltura video quiz

In the quiz editor, use the **Media navigator** at the bottom of the screen to navigate to the place in the video where you want to ask your question. Click **Add a Question** to reveal the four choices you have. Select **Multiple Choice**.

Enter the question in the box that says **Add a Question Here**. Enter the correct answer in the box that says Add the CORRECT Answer Here. Add additional answers in the Add Additional Answer Here box. To add more answers, click the + button in the white hexagon. Click **Save** when finished.

## Add a True/False question

In the quiz editor, use the **Media navigator** at the bottom of the screen to navigate to the place in the video where you want to ask your question. Click **Add a Question** to reveal the four choices you have. Select **True/False**.

Type your question in the box that says **Add a Question Here**. Make sure you also click on the right side of the **True** or **False** boxes to indicate the correct answer. Click **Save**.

## Add a Reflection Point

In the quiz editor, use the **Media navigator** at the bottom of the screen to navigate to the place in the video where you want to ask your first question. Click **Add a Question** to reveal the four choices you have. Select **Add a Reflection Point**.

A reflection point will add a pause and some text for the students to consider. Type the text you want your students to reflect on in the box that says **Add Reflection Point Text Here**. Click **Save**.

## Add an Open-Ended question

This feature is not currently enabled in the MacEwan instance of Kaltura Video Quiz.

## Video Settings

To access settings for your video quiz, click the settings collapse icon on the right-hand side of the editor.

Under the **Details settings**, you can adjust the name of your quiz and customize the message students will see when they start the quiz in the box below **Welcome Message**. You can also choose whether to allow the download of the questions before starting the quiz and whether or not to include instructions.

Under the **Scores** setting, you can choose to reveal scores at the end of the quiz and whether or not to see correct/incorrect answers.

Under the **Experience** settings, you can adjust whether a student can change answers, skip questions, and seek specific locations in the media.

## Publishing Your Kaltura Video Quiz

Once you have added all of the questions you would like to add, click **Done**. If you wish to preview the quiz first, you can click **Preview **to do that.

You can adjust embed settings by clicking on the gear icon in the top-right corner, or you can click **Save and Embed** to attach the quiz and complete the video quiz-making process. This will now take you back into mêskanâs.

On your course home page, click on **Edit settings **for the item you just created.

Click Select content.

Click **Embed** adjacent to the video quiz you just created, or if you want to use a previously created quiz, click **Embed** beside it. This will bring you back to mêskanâs.

Click **SAVE AND DISPLAY** to preview the assignment or **SAVE AND RETURN TO COURSE** to return to mêskanâs.
