## Introduction

This tutorial will show you how to embed external videos (e.g., from YouTube) into your mêskanâs course. You can do this in many places within mêskanâs, including the main mêskanâs course page, a page, and a mêskanâs book.

For videos that you create or for which you have the actual video file, refer to the **Kaltura Video Resource** tutorial.

## Collecting the Embed Code

Before you can embed a video, you must have the embed code for that video. Using YouTube as an example, click on the **Share** button below the video. Click on the **Embed** icon and then click the **Copy** button to copy the embed code onto your computer’s clipboard.

# Embedding the Video

Go back to mêskanâs to the location where you want to embed the video. In the top-right corner of the main mêskanâs page, turn** EDIT MODE ON**.

In this example, the video will be embedded into Topic 6 of the main page, but the process to embed within pages and books is identical. Click the three-dot menu, and then choose **Edit settings**.

Type a few words to identify the video. This will help you in the next step.

Now find the angle brackets (</>) symbol and click on it. This opens the HTML editor.

When the next screen opens, find the words you typed in the last step. Replace those words with the code you copied from YouTube. (Highlight the text, then *Control* or *Command* + *V*.)

**After**:

Click **SAVE CHANGES** at the bottom of the screen.

The embedded video appears in Topic 6 of the course’s main page.

Note the accessibility options available at the bottom of the video, as shown above. If you simply copied and pasted the URL or Share link, these accessibility options would not be present.

> ℹ️ Do not simply paste the **Share** link (or the URL from the navigation bar) from YouTube. This approach does not meet accessibility standards because closed captions are not available.

As a reminder, you can use the same steps to embed videos into pages and books within mêskanâs. In many cases, these alternative locations may be more desirable because embedding resources directly on the main page can result in a lot of scrolling on the main page.
