## Introduction

This tutorial will show you how to insert audio files into your mêskanâs course. You can do this in many places within mêskanâs, including the main mêskanâs course page, a page, and a mêskanâs book.

---

## Drag and Drop

The simplest way to add audio to your course is, in the top-right corner of the main mêskanâs page, turn** Edit mode **on and then drag and drop your audio file in the section you want it to appear in.

You will see the window below, which gives you two choices: **Add media to course page** and **Create file resource.**

**Add media to course page** adds the file in a media player directly onto the page.

**Create File resource** adds the file as a link for students to click on.

## Uploading an audio file

Uploading an audio file gives you more options as to how the file is shared with students. To upload an audio file, open a page, then, in the **Content** section of the page, click on **Insert or edit an audio/video file.**

> ℹ️ Please note that while this method can also be used to insert video files, Kaltura is the preferred approach to sharing videos at MacEwan, as Kaltura provides extra accessibility features.

In the **File picker** window, click **Choose file** to select a file from your computer. When you have selected your file, click **UPLOAD THIS FILE**.

If you want to customize how students interact with your audio file, open the **Display options**, **Advanced Settings**, and **Subtitles and captions** menus and make your selections. Please note that many web browsers do not allow audio files to **Play automatically**, so choosing the **Play automatically** option may result in students having difficulty listening to the audio files.

After the audio has loaded, click **Insert media**. A media player will appear in the **Content** area of the page. Click **SAVE AND DISPLAY** at the bottom of the page.

A media player will appear on the students’ pages. The format of the player may vary, depending on the browser the student is using.
