**AUDIENCE:  **<span style="color: #bf2600">**STUDENTS**</span>

The Alexander Rutherford scholarship is an Alberta Government scholarship that recognizes and rewards the academic achievement of high school students. Information about the requirements and the application process can be found on the <u>[Alberta Student Aid website](https://studentaid.alberta.ca/scholarships-and-awards/alexander-rutherford-scholarship/)</u>.

Once applications are received by Alberta Student Aid, they will be sent to the post-secondary institution for confirmation. These requests are received every few weeks by the university.  MacEwan will begin confirmation of the scholarship after the published add/drop deadline each term. If you apply for Alberta student loans and the Alexander Rutherford scholarship, both will be confirmed together.

The scholarship will then be mailed to you as a cheque directly from Alberta Student Aid.
